It is the first day of spring and yet in Mt Pleasant it will
be a summer-like day with a projected high of 85! Currently it's still a lovely 77 with slight
breeze. With spring comes color which is
always welcome here. Sam picked a little
mini clay pot with basil seeds from the mom bucket a week and a half ago. His timing was excellent as he gets to
celebrate spring and new buds of basil popping out from the soil.
Last Saturday on St. Patrick's Day Sam also got to have a
fun activity. He went to Green Scene
Landscaping and spend an hour planting seeds and marking the pots, with his
teacher from last year. She and her
husband own the business and I won the chance for Sam to do this by bidding the
highest at the silent auction! It was
worth every penny and then some. He had
the time of his life. I was sicker than
a dog so didn't get any pictures.
:( But he came home exclaiming
that he would do that every Saturday and wouldn't even need a snack. He was also excited because of the 4 other
kids there with some other teachers he and the little girl planted the most (or
so he thinks).
Sam has tended this little miniature pot multiple times a
day with great care. He makes sure it
gets sunlight in the morning and then moves it when he comes home as the sun is
no longer on that side of the house. His
care and watch over this min pot of what are to become herbs has been fun and I
look forward to see what happens. There
are more seeds to plant I just haven't pulled out the other pots and trays yet. I'll be interested to see if this trend
continues. His enthusiasm for his basil
is how I feel about Spring with buds on the trees sprouting leaving a hint of
color if you pay enough attention. So go
back to sleep summer and come back in a little bit. I am ready for Spring.
